You must replace your rubber stamp seal every four years when you renew your commission or upon changing your name or county of record.
 

Disposing of Your Old Seal

If you change your name or address during your commission, or if your commission ends for any reason prior to the expiration date on your seal, you must take steps to prevent others from using your unexpired seal in fraudulent activities.

You must surrender your seal if:

• Your commission is revoked or suspended. In this case, you must deliver your seal to the Secretary immediately.
• You resign your commission voluntarily. In this case, you must deliver your rubber stamp seal to the Secretary of State within 10 days. You must destroy or render your seal unusable immediately if: 
• You have changed your name and purchased a new seal with your new name before your current commission expires. 
• Your commission has expired.        

To make the seal unusable, smash it with a hammer, slice the rubber face with scissors or a razor blade or scrape the rubber face off and cut it into pieces. The chassis and mount of the seal cannot be reused.
