Young California Entrepreneur Creates Notary App
A 23-year-old California man has launched his own company, an on-demand notary signing platform. Isaiah Lopez created Aruta On-Demand which is modeled after another successful app - Uber. But Aruta On-Demand is Uber for notaries.
His company was inspired by a job Lopez had at a notary signing business while he attended college.
With his app, Lopez hopes to make life easier for notaries and those who need their services. Aruta On-Demand's website went live in November 2018. Clients can find a notary near them, book the notary and track the notary through the process from expected arrival time to drop-off of signed documents. Notaries are vetted to ensure they are bonded and have an up-to-date California notary license. After a signing, they are rated by all parties involved.
Lopez said the services are pre-priced with options ranging from a mini signing for $60 to a jumbo signing for $340. Aruta offers a 100 percent error-free guarantee - reducing the repeat trips that notarizing mortgage and refinance documents often requires. He is patenting a machine-learning algorithm that scans the documents and marks each place that needs to be signed.
Currently, Lopez is marketing to industries such as mortgage and title escrow, both residential and commercial. He also plans a web series on how the process works, what the laws are and what to look for in a notary.
