How to Avoid Taking the Notary Exam

by PAN
Renewing notaries who have a lapse in their commissions (even just one day) or do not get sworn into office within 45 days from the date their commission begins and their commission expires, will be required to take the notary examination.

And while PAN is working on creating study guides for our members, we currently do not know what specific questions will be on the exam.

"If you want to take the notary test, then let your commission lapse and don't get sworn into office on time," said Brian Dowd, manager of PAN's Education Department. "If that does happen to you, we recommend you sign up for our Everyday Notary Challenges Seminar, which includes an exam prep component."

It's important for members to keep PAN up-to-date with their mailing and E-mail addresses so PAN's reappointment reminders will reach you.

PAN begins sending out reappointment reminders 10 months prior to each member's commission expiration. If you have a change in mail or E-mail address, please let PAN know by calling 1-800-944-8790 or E-mailing [email protected].
