PAN President Co-Chairs Project
PAN President Marc L. Aronson co-chaired work on a significant background paper on electronic notarization for the Property Records Industry Association (PRIA). The paper, “eNotary Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)” was approved and published in February by the eNotary Work Project Team under the auspices of PRIA’s Standards and Best Practices Committee.
The paper provides answers to 24 questions that are frequently posed by government and business about electronic notarization. The project team included participants from all the major notary associations, Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems and Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization, along with recorder of deeds’ participation.
The project was in development for 12 months and began with 50 questions. These questions were then refined into 24 key concepts which are now published in the eNotary Frequently Asked Questions background paper.
PRIA develops and promotes national standards and best practices for the property records industry.
“It was a pleasure to work with such knowledgeable individuals to discuss and debate the responses to these FAQs,” said Marc. “Questions about electronic notarization are becoming more prevalent as many states introduce legislation to allow and provide guidance for eNotarization.”
