A Letter from Jeanne Sorg
eanne Sorg, Recorder of Deeds of Montgomery County sent this letter out June 25, 2020:
Hello friends!
On Friday, June 26, Montgomery County moves to the green phase! However, this does not mean a return to life as it was before the COVID-19 pandemic. And, while many of the restrictions will be dropped or loosened during the “green phase,” the Recorder of Deeds office, located in One Montgomery Plaza, will continue to be closed to the public for the time being.
Our office is working daily and we continue to accept recordings through the U.S. Postal Service, FedEx/UPS and through our four eRecording partners. Additionally, we will accept plans for recording via mail in a rolled tube. We are working with the Planning Commission and Board of Assessment to continue to record plans.
For new and renewing notaries, our office has partnered with the Montgomery County Prothonotary to swear in Montgomery County notaries via video conferencing. To sign up for a time slot, notaries need to have an executed bond, power of attorney and their driver’s license. Sign up for your time slot here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040a48adad2ea6fa7-online
Although we are working daily, our staff continues to work a reduced in-office schedule or telework, and therefore, you might experience a delay in recording times.
As always, please feel free to call our office with any questions at 610-278-3289. Please note, excessive phone calls and emails to check on the status of recordings, notaries, and plans slows down the recording process. We are working to process all recordings in a timely fashion.
We thank you for your continued patience during this unprecedented time.
