Notaries Beware: Scam Alert

by PAN

PAN has been informed that there is a scam call circulating targeting notaries.

The scammer is contacting notaries claiming to be a detective from the Somerset County Sheriff's Department. The individual claims that there is a high profile federal case going on, and they were calling on notaries for their "expertise" to be part of the jury and that they represent a local judge.

The scammer goes on to claim that the notary has been called because they are one of several notaries that were "summoned" that did not report to court for jury duty, and there is now a warrant out for their arrest.

PAN's president, Marc Aronson, spoke to the Sherriff's office and they are aware of this scam.

If you receive a call like this, please let PAN know and ignore the call. Do not give out any personal, private information to the scammer.
