Disciplinary Actions - May-June 2016

by PAN
The Secretary of State’s office handed down disciplinary actions against notaries in Allegheny and Lancaster counties.

Allegheny County

A Pittsburgh notary permanently and voluntarily surrendered her commission because she failed to keep and maintain custody of her register, give notice of an address change to the Secretary and the recorder of deeds within five days, sign her name exactly and only as it appears on the commission and give notice of a name change to the Secretary and recorder of deeds within 30 days of the change.

Lancaster County

A notary from Landisville had her commission suspended for three months, but stayed in favor of probation because she failed to maintain an accurate chronological register. She must successfully complete a six-hour notary education course and pay a civil penalty of $250, which will be waived upon successful completion of the education course. She must also pay a probation assessment fee of $150 for the cost of continued monitoring.
