Certificate of Good Standing Process Changes for PA Notaries

by PAN

The PA Department of State has requested that counties discontinue issuing Certificates of Good Standing for Notaries Public. This function will now be handled exclusively by the Department of State.

Philadelphia County has already implemented this change as of today. Other counties are expected to follow.

What is a Certificate of Good Standing?

When a Pennsylvania notary public notarizes a document for use in another state or country, they may need to provide proof of their appointment. This verification is called a Certificate of Good Standing for Notary Public and is issued by the Secretary of the Commonwealth. Individuals should check with the receiving state or country for specific requirements.
