Pre-Verifying REAL ID Identity Documents

by PAN
Most Pennsylvanians will start the process of getting a REAL ID compliant driver's license or photo ID card by collecting and verifying their REAL ID identity documents at a Driver License Center. The centers will begin accepting documents in September 2018.

However, if you received your first Pennsylvania driver's license, learner's permit or photo ID card after Sept. 1, 2003, PennDOT may already have your documentation on file, safing you a trip to the Driver License Center.

You can verify this by completing Form LD-60RID - REAL ID Pre-Verification Form. The fillable portable document format (PDF) is available on PennDOT's Web site at www.dot.state.pa.us/Public/DVSPubsForms/BDL/BDL%20Form/DL-60RID.pdf.

Once you fill out the form, you must print it out to sign and mail the form to PennDOT; you cannot submit the form online. You will receive a notification from PennDOT to let you know whether your documents are on file.

If PennDOT confirms that your documents are on file, there's no need for you to visit a Driver License Center. You can apply online when REAL ID driver's licenses and photo ID cards are available in the spring of 2019.
