Luzerne County Repeals Fee for Local Use Effective January 1, 2022

by PAN

In 2018, Luzerne County passed an ordinance under Act 89 to implement a “Fee for Local Use” of $5 for each vehicle registered to an address located in the county.

Luzerne County has since repealed the ordinance. The effective date of the repeal is January 1, 2022.

Any vehicle registrations with an expiration up to and including December 31, 2021, must pay the $5 fee for Luzerne County even if the renewal is processed after the repeal date.

In addition, any initial issuance of registration issued to customers up to and including December 31, 2021, must also include the $5 fee for Luzerne County.
