Congratulations on your success with the Pearson VUE notary test. What's next?

You should receive your Notice to Appointee letter from the Department of State in two to four weeks. Included with the letter will be a blank bond. Do nothing with this blank bond.

When PAN checks the State's appointment list and sees you have been appointed, we will mail your equipment, including your completed bond and power of attorney with instructions on being sworn into office. You have 45 days after being appointed to be sworn in.

You will also receive your new notary stamp. Please review the stamp's imprint details on the enclosed card. Is the information correct? If not, contact PAN for a replacement stamp. Remember: do not use your new notary stamp until you have been sworn into office and your new commission begins.

Take your completed bond and power of attorney as well as proper identification and fees to your county Recorder of Deeds to be sworn in. You may be required to register your signature and this may involve a separate fee.

For more information or if you have questions, call PAN's Customer Service Department at 1-800-944-8790, Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Best of luck with your new four-year notary commission.
